Calculus I
This electronic book, in pdf format, starts with a chapter on pre-calculus concepts, continues with the study of differential calculus, and ends with a taste of integral calculus. If you want the basics, just click through the pages in order. If you want more in-depth study on a subject, just click on the many keywords found in the body of the text. You will be whisked away to pages with more technical information.

Concepts are explained in easy to follow language and are augmented with Quicktime animations. The many animations will open your eyes to the understanding of hard to grasp subjects. Additionally, dynamic LiveMath notebooks allow you to test the mathematics in an interactive way.

In fact, the LiveMath program drives the book. All of the Quicktime animations were developed in LiveMath and LiveMath linked examples fill the book. If you want to just learn calculus without buying the full LiveMath program, you can with the free LiveMath Viewer program. But, better yet, you should buy the full version. Not only will you be able to manipulate the examples as with the viewer, you will be able to explore the math in your own creative way.

The best is yet to come. Not only can you see the table of contents, you can see much of the book right here on the LiveMath website! Yes, why not? I have always felt that one should be able to look before buying. Isnšt that what you do when you go to Barnes and Noble to buy a book? Five of the seven chapters are presented here for viewing (just the two chapters on the application of the concepts are missing). Yes, the book you buy will be better. First of all, it is a newer version. Secondly, the pdf version will respond to your mouse clicks faster and the animations will jump to life rather than clunk away.

You may ask; why does he show so much of the book on line? Well, I feel that by seeing the book (or most of it, that is), you will want to own the whole book. In addition, it is my intention to improve the book, expanding it to include more subjects and better integrate the LiveMath program, and Quicktime movies. The LiveMath people and I are working right now to make it so that buyers of the book will have new versions available for free or a vastly reduced price.

Please enjoy the on line version of the book and tell all your mathematically enticed friends about LiveMath & Calculus I an Electronic Book.
